So on Thursday, February 19th at 11:00 AM CST, Pixar surprised us all and dropped the FULL Toy Story 5 trailer! We also got a new poster and the Disney Kids YouTube channel also posted a little sneak peek too!

Now I'm not going to rehash everything from the trailer since I did do a trailer breakdown (and literally had a breakdown over my love for Jessie which I never cry sooo...).

So the caption under the trailer gives us a look inside of what to expect and the updated voice cast:

"An all-new trailer and poster for Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated upcoming animated adventure “Toy Story 5” debut today. The toys are back and this time, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang's jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?

The trailer also teases the anticipated reunion of Woody and Buzz following Woody’s decision to leave the gang and start helping lost toys at the end of 2019’s “Toy Story 4.” As the toys face the tech devices of today, it’s going to be all hands on deck with some familiar and all-new characters.

Several actors have joined the incredible roster of voice talent including Craig Robinson as Atlas, a cheerful talking GPS hippo toy; Shelby Rabara as the excitable camera toy Snappy; Scarlett Spears as the sweet and shy 8-year-old Bonnie; Mykal-Michelle Harris as Blaze, an independent 8-year-old girl who loves animals; and Matty Matheson as the tech-fearing toy Dr. Nutcase.

Also rounding out the voice cast are John Ratzenberger as the wisecracking piggybank Hamm; Wallace Shawn as Rex, the anxiety-riddled tyrannosaurus rex toy; Blake Clark as the ever-loyal Slinky Dog; Jeff Bergman as the sarcastic Mr. Potato Head; Anna Vocino as the nurturing Mrs. Potato Head; Annie Potts as the adventure-loving Bo Peep; Bonnie Hunt as the wise rag-doll Dolly; Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly, Bonnie’s homemade toy fashioned out of a plastic knife; John Hopkins as the dignified hedgehog plush toy Mr. Pricklepants; Kristen Schaal as the plastic triceratops toy Trixie; Ernie Hudson as the action figure Combat Carl; and Keanu Reeves as Canadian daredevil toy Duke Caboom.

The previously announced voice cast includes Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Joan Cusack (Jessie), Greta Lee (Lilypad), Conan O’Brien (Smarty Pants) and Tony Hale (Forky).

“Toy Story 5” is directed by Academy Award® winner Andrew Stanton (“WALL•E,” “Finding Nemo,” “Finding Dory”), co-directed by Kenna Harris (“Ciao Alberto”), produced by Lindsey Collins (“Turning Red,” “WALL•E,” “Finding Dory”), and features an original score by Academy Award® winner Randy Newman who returns to score his fifth “Toy Story” feature. The film releases exclusively in theaters nationwide on June 19, 2026."

So let's break this down for a moment. We have our main three, already confirmed (Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and my lord and savior Joan Cusack). There are also actors we knew were coming back like Annie Potts (Bo Peep), Tony Hale (Forky), Greta Lee (Lilypad), Conan O'Brien (Smarty Pants), and Ernie Hudson (taking over the role of Combat Carl).

Since the passing of Don Rickles and Estelle Harris, both whom are sorely missed, they have recast the Potato Heads with Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino, both whom seem so honored and ecstatic to be a part of this project. Let's all give them a warm welcome!

Another silent change is John Hopkins voicing Mr. Pricklepants, replacing Timothy Dalton. I have no insight on why the change, but rumor has it that Dalton has retired fully.

As far as the rest of the toys, the original actors are back!

It's literally like coming home to family. These voices and characters are such a comfort to me and with this movie coming out, getting more Buzz, Woody, and Jessie, it's like reuniting with old friends, literally. I have heard from folks back from the Toy Story 3 days, which has been so great!

We also got a listing of the new toys:

Smarty Pants: a potty training toy voiced by Conan O'Brien

Atlas: a hippo with a GPS feature (which could come in handy!)

Snappy: an excitable camera toy (Lenny vibes anyone?)

Lastly, Dr. Nutcase: a tech-fearing toy, who I don't believe we have an image of yet.

We haven't heard or seen much of the new toys in the trailer and such, especially Dr. Nutcase. I'm looking forward to learning more about him.

Plus, we have old-man Woody! I love how Woody has a bald spot! It's a testament that we (the audience who grew up with these films) are all getting older. I mean, I'm using my massager on my lower back as I'm typing this blog post!

Woody and Jessie have been keeping in touch via walkie talkies. I love how Jessie still needs her bro and how Woody is always there for her. Amazing sibling relationship going on! I relate to that with my siblings.

Woody returns to the toys in a very Clint Eastwood way sporting a poncho. The toys are going to just rip on him between the poncho and the bald spot and it's going to be hilarious!

"Nice Poncho".

Now let's address some theories and rumors going around:

  1. Emily is coming back.

So there has been hints of Jessie's old owner, Emily returning. I'm not saying that it won't happen. Emily could very well make an appearance as an elderly woman.

Pixar has named an "independent 8 year old girl", Blaze, who loves animals in the caption. My personal opinion is that Jessie could spiral, since being tossed aside by Bonnie, and she does a "trauma exposure" type of thing and finds herself at Emily's old house somehow. There is where we meet Blaze and the new toys (Smarty Pants, etc.)

There's going to be some comparison on Jessie's part, to when she got abandoned by Emily, which now is happening with Bonnie. I personally think Jessie's going to be reliving all of this with Bonnie, hence the spiral. Maybe Blaze is Emily's great granddaughter or something, who knows.

Jessie is going to go through the ringer emotionally, probably physically, and mentally in this film and I'll be so excited to see the climax where she overcomes this feeling. (More to come on this below!)

I'm also just really excited to see Jessie try and fail to command a real horse. (She uses its real mane as a reign...girl. I love her so much.)

  1. Lilypad is going to hack into the Multi-Buzz

Credit: Pixar

Yes, this is very much a possibility! I would love to see our Buzz snap them out of the hack somehow with the speech we see in the trailer. It looks like our Space Ranger becomes their ring-leader!

  1. How does Woody and Buzz get to Blaze's house?

Somehow, Jessie and Bullseye get separated from the toys and wind up at Blaze's house. We see Bonnie tossing Bullseye and Jessie back into the car and just taking Lilypad into her friends' house. I'm wondering if the separation happens there.

I honestly have no idea where the conflict begins and what happens. This trailer gave us so much, yet so little regarding the plot.

We see in the trailer Buzz and Woody jump on the back of the Anderson's car. They also look like they get into a tumble with Lilypad. I think Lilypad knows where Jessie is somehow and the guys beat it out of her. Buzz would go through anything to find his cowgirl.

This movie seems to focus on the main three (Jessie, Woody, and Buzz) so I'm sure there's going to be a lot of dynamic between the three of them to help Jessie, solve the issue, and come back home in time for dinner.

  1. Tim Allen hinted Buzz and Jessie were to be married but the trailer has Forky and Karen Beverly (the knife) be married with Jessie officiating.

Credit: Pixar
Credit: Pixar

Ok guys, you all know I was excited about that hint Allen dropped and I have not given up on that.

Bonnie is a very rambunctious, creative child and her stories change every second. It could happen at the beginning where she changes it to Jessie and Buzz at the drop of a hat.

HOWEVER.

Allen also says that "Buzz takes it very seriously" and also said that Buzz and Jessie's relationship is a part of this film.

Buzz always has something going on in the movies. I think he's going to be focused on being a good partner/deputy/husband for Jessie, and wants to take it to the next step, almost annoyingly so. The whole film he could be just completely devoted to her.

Credit: Pixar
Credit: Pixar

Woody wants him to "stay back" with the other toys, but Buzz is offended accusing Woody of thinking he can't handle it.

Remember Toy Story of Terror where Buzz was being all protective and worried, especially trying to bust out of the glass cabinet to get to Jessie? He's not going to sit around while she's out of his sight.

At the end of the day, I think Jessie might come to realize that it's not just a kid that she needs to receive love from, it's Buzz as someone who loves her completely, and Woody, who is her brother and confidant.

Also, Woody's back and can be available to help Buzz either propose/officiate/etc., so I very much think a Buzz/Jessie wedding can happen at the end, possibly as an epilogue in the credits even.

Regardless, we will be getting Buzz/Jessie cuteness and I know a lot of you want them to kiss. I am like 99% confident we will get one. It looks like there will be some angst, especially if they're separated and Jessie is extremely emotional.

Buzz will be the best he can be for Jessie and it already shows in the trailer.

  1. Joan Cusack's voice sounds different.

Credit: Pixar
Credit: Pixar

Y'all, she's in her sixties! Even Tim Allen's voice sounds lower and Tom Hanks sounds a little different too. Unfortunately our friends are getting older and that's just age! It actually adds extra charm to the toys to make it seem like they're aging too! Which leads into the last point I want to cover, and to me, it's a big one.

  1. Jessie's new look!

Credit: Pixar
Credit: Pixar

You guys.

So it looks like at some point in the film Jessie loses her hat and her bow. Her hair looks to have unraveled and her yarn hair looks super lose tied back into one of those old hair bobbles from the 90s. She is an old toy too, so she has some wear and tear happening and its just something that happens to toys at time goes on. Maybe Blaze was rough with her, or tried to redo her hair? Maybe Jessie got into a spat with another, more menacing toy? It's great Pixar has been trying new stuff with the toys, especially her and Woody. Even on all the toys, you can see the scratches, marks, and other discrepancies on them from years of play.

I think she looks so beautiful and it's not all because of the new look. She looks like she went through hell and back; that she somehow conquered and persevered. That she trusted herself, trusted Buzz, and trusted Woody to overcome whatever major event is going to happen to her.

We see her leading some type of toy revolution while riding Bullseye. In the Disney Kids video, she bashfully looks back at someone (who probably complimented her?) and leads them off.

I also know Buzz may tell her she's beautiful no matter what. We see her hugging him in a shot that looks like they're riding in the back of a car and have resolved things with Lilypad. (Love the little foot pop!)

I'm so excited to see how proud Buzz is of his cowgirl and how Woody is as well. Jessie is amazing and brave, but she is prone to be emotional. That's why I love her to death. She is someone I see myself as and represents us girls/women who are tomboys and not afraid to get down and dirty.

I know a lot of us want to see her hair down and also hear her voice box! We haven't gotten to hear it at all yet!

Guys, I got so overcome seeing her like this. I'm still not over it. I've been speechless the past few days over this trailer and the scene with her leading the toys is all I can think about.

I'm going to leave it there. Please make sure you watch my trailer breakdown for more of my thoughts!

Collider recently wrote up an article about what to expect toy-wise in 2026 from what could be a Disney-leading year in the box office. Toys from all the films, from Toy Story 5 to Avengers and Star Wars will dominate the market this year.

You can read all about it here:

So Valentine's Day was last week, and Pixar gave us some Buzz/Jessie stuff! Even Disney+ had an image of them on their Valentine's Day page!

Hence what I said above, Buzz and Jessie's relationship is really getting hyped! Which leads me into this new book cover for a two story book that dropped called "Sheriff Jessie" and "Deputy Buzz".

We caught something in the corner behind Jessie, that looks totally different from the wedding scene in the trailer...

Soooo yeah, and look at Buzz! The admiration on his face looking at her! Please.

This cover had me going crazy for a full weekend (and still now).
